Silmo 2024

A couple weeks ago, no pun intended, Maressa and I took a red eye flight to Paris, France for an international eyewear trade show called Silmo. This show happens once a year and we were grateful to be able to attend during our first year of opening our optical shop, Together Again Eyewear. Our dear friend Monica hosted us in her flat for the duration of the event where we had the opportunity to purchase new frames from some of our favourite eyewear designers and spend some quality time with these incredible humans.

New Releases

All of the eyewear designers we currently represent in our shop had strong and beautiful new releases. The creativity and technical ingenuity of these craftspeople builds throughout the year and culminates in an explosion of artistic eyewear once a year in Paris. Each designer brought something unique to the show and their new models will be in our Guelph shop very soon!

Blake Kuwahara

Blake introduced textured edges and played with combined matte and glossy finishes for his always-strikingly fashionable frame shapes. We saw a happy balance of soft shadowy tones and bright colours.

Bruno Chaussignand

Bruno absorbed some positive energy from the Paris Olympic Games which he channeled into a thoughtful reboot of some iconic frame models. He also released many brand new impressive designs that are unique yet still retain the brand’s DNA.

TAVAT

Roberta, the owner and designer of TAVAT, had us ogling each new frame that was presented. She introduced even more amazing frames for petite faces and plays with colour combinations in such a wearable way.

Vinylize

Zach, the owner and designer of Vinylize, released one of his largest fitting frames yet and added a variety of very cool new models to the collection. We always admire a designer who takes into consideration the full spectrum of face shapes and sizes.

Lapima

Gustavo, the owner and designer of Lapima, took a deep dive into the creative depths of his mind and surfaced with a brilliant new release. He is bringing us rich aquatic colours, natural matte acetates and bold, flattering shapes.

Masunaga

From 1905 to 2024, the Masunaga design team has brought us timeless designs with superb Japanese craftsmanship. We are excited to add some more lightweight and vintage-inspired frames to our collection.

New Collection: Folc Eyewear!

Maressa and I fell in love with many incredible eyewear collections from around the world. As we grow, we are excited to introduce these designers to our community here in Guelph. This year we chose to add one new collection to our repertoire of handcrafted eyewear brands. Introducing… folc eyewear, designed in Barcelona and made in Italy. Founder and designer, Marta Llinarès, plays with vibrant and translucent colours, structured shapes and is always attempting to be as local and sustainable as possible in her production practices.

Come try them on!
