Sustainability and LAPIMA
Sustainability Practices
LAPIMA's approach to sustainability begins with their selection of organic cellulose acetate. Mazzucchelli acetate is a modified natural polymer in which cellulose is extracted from renewable sources and treated with an organic synthesis agent to produce cellulose acetate powder. This is a more environmentally responsible material than others often used on the market, which usually come from petroleum or other pollutants that are aggressive to the environment. Organic cellulose acetate is also of superior quality which gives the frame a longer lifespan.
Made without the use of water in all production stages, LAPIMA frames are made with intention and all the leftover acetate, that are not chips or powder, are stored for reuse in future projects, sent to a company that recycles this material or are donated to a local art studio for the creation of new art.
LAPIMA supports the local community in Campinas, employing more than 30 professionals, 90% of whom are women, and contributing to the development of the skills of the atelier's new artisans.
Custom Order Production
LAPIMA takes into account reducing the waste of excess materials as much as possible, which is why wholesale orders are produced on demand and internal production procedures are frequently improved so that less material is discarded. We sit down and choose the models and colours that are made specifically for Together Again Eyewear. As LAPIMA does not overproduce, any new order is custom made in Brazil and then shipped out to the excited customer who has patiently waited 2 months for their brand new frame.
