Neil Moser & Maressa Dixon Open a Boutique Optical in Downtown Guelph
How They Met
Neil Moser met Maressa Dixon in 2016 while delivering Valentine’s Day cards to businesses in Uptown Waterloo. After having a conversation with Maressa in the shop, Neil asked if she would be interested in working with him. Maressa was interested in fashion purchasing and, as Neil was an independent eyewear buyer and manager at a local optometry practice, she decided that she should take the opportunity to explore the eyewear industry.
What They Did
In 2007 Neil started working at a corporate optometry practice. He switched over to an independent practice in 2011 so that he could help build the company’s brand and introduce them to some amazing independent eyewear designers. For thirteen years, Neil helped to foster a community of independent eyewear enthusiasts through building genuine relationships with eyewear designers, creative brand-building and community networking.
After working with Neil, the optical world became a passion that Maressa decided to pursue and so she became a licensed optician, graduating from Seneca College in 2020. While Neil remained in Waterloo, Maressa moved to Toronto where she worked at different specialized shops, eventually becoming a manager and buyer for an optometry practice in downtown Toronto.
